PS4 Game Development a “Walk in the park,” Says Avalanche Studios
The PS4’s raw power is seen as a heaven sent gift in the eyes of many developers. The limits most developers have been bound by in the current generation will no longer serve as an issue in the next generation. The restrictions are lifted, and many developers will get to indulge in a much more in-depth development process; not only testing their limits, but also measure their imaginations.
Avalanche Studios, the guys behind the ‘Just Cause’ series, have given there blessing in an interview with Develop. "Compared to the PS3 it's a walk in the park," noted Linus Blomberg, Co-Founder of Just Cause Studios. "I think that's one of the major lessons Sony learned with the last generation; you have to be accessible for the developers to be successful. Of course, there's still some quirkiness involved, especially if you're used to a Windows development environment."
In our current-generation, many developers are using the Xbox as the “lead platform” for their game developments. Due to the PS3’s complex structure, their choices are justified, but on the other hand, this generation is slowly starting to become a spec of dust in our rear view mirror. With the next-generation only months away, the feeling is surreal. It seems as if Sony has picked up their mistakes with hopes of improvement and with the praise of Avalanche Studios, the future is promising.
Since Avalanche Studios have made such comments, it’s only fair to assume the strong possibility of a next-generation Just Cause title is all but confirmed. Although the developers, regarding their game, have slipped no official word, it’s a reasonably safe expectation.
